“Ex Fabbrica Ginori”
Digital photography series
Milan, 2019
In the Ortica district of Milan, not far from the city centre and the Lambrate district, there is a characteristic former industrial complex.
The interior of this architectural complex is divided into small areas where "small houses" or multi-storey residential units have been built. Inside, lofts have been built. The small houses, built one after the other inside a rectangular block, are surrounded by the disused areas of a former historic ceramics and porcelain factory, Richard-Ginori. This factory is being demolished to make way for the new houses, some of which are still being renovated. This place struck me not only because of its residential function, but above all because of the colours chosen. The geometries I encountered, the very open structures and the colours of this place gave me a strong sense of the creative intent of this type of architecture, which manages to enhance the existing building rather than destroy it. Making this place truly unique. By using the square format for these photographs, I wanted to strengthen the visual composition by eliminating wasted space. To create a more focused and objective visual perception. I aimed for simplicity, form and space to understand and convey the colours and geometric harmonies to create a response of attention and a global vision of the architecture.
